Old SRP Sub-Tranmission Pole w/ King Pin Insulators

Located across from Fry's Electronics in southern Phoenix. This pole was constructed in 1989. I would've imagined this was a lot older than that. But perhaps this pole replaced an older one and this had the previous construction kept perhaps as a relic?

SRP 3-Phase-Tap Pole

Considering the era when the homes on this street were built, this is an early 1960's construction.

This was taken in a rather seedy neighborhood just next to the South Mountain Comm. College.

Angle Bracket SRP Armless Construction

The typical armless construction throughout Phoenix.

This form of tapping is poor practice, is it not? I've seen it used by SRP quite a lot. Mostly with armless construction.

Old SRP Sub-Transmission Pole w/ King Pin Insulators

There are only two poles in this area that feature this older construction style. If the line is very old, they just replaced the older poles but kept this older construction for just two poles. Like say before 1989, there must have been several poles similar to these that were among the line.

"Older" Double Circuit SRP Sub-Transmission Pole

This pole carries both 69 kV sub-transmission and 12 kV distribution.

There are only two of these king pin insulator poles while the rest are tangent line post ones much like all over the general region. This pole was installed in 1989.

Also, I wonder when this line construction with those big brown glazed king pin insulators began to fade off?
I kinda figured sometime in the 1960's or 70's (before line posts took over).

This pole was installed in 1989... Kept the older construction style as a relic?
